Will There be a Red Dead Redemption 3?

Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2 are two of the most influential games ever made, with the latter regarded by GamingBible as the best title in the history of gaming to date.

The 2018 offering from Rockstar Games was an epic western that brought the genre back into the mainstream with a bang. Now, there are rumors that the esteemed developer could be considering a return to the American frontier in the future.

Red Dead Redemption Brought Wild West Back Into Mainstream

The Wild West was once one of the most popular genres in mainstream culture, with countless offerings in the film industry throughout the 1960s. More recently, though, the themes from that era have declined, and there have been precious few westerns on the big screen. In gaming, however, the genre is thriving, and RDR2 is the main reason for that.

Since the release of the Rockstar Games epic almost five years ago, there have been numerous other console titles that use outlaws and horses as a central theme. Some of the most notable games include Evil West and Great Western Trail.

On mobile, there are even more options that have clearly taken inspiration from RDR2. These have shot up more rapidly thanks to the shortened time required to make a mobile title compared to a console offering. Some of the most popular mobile games include West Gunfighter, Westland Survival: Survive the Wild West, and Six-Guns: Gang Showdown.

In the casino industry, the influence of the Rockstar Games western is highly apparent as well. At Doggo Casino, for example, there are more than 10 games with a Wild West theme. These include King of the West, Western Gold, and Western Wilds.

Rockstar Games Could Develop it After GTA 6

The storyline of Red Dead Redemption 2 was definitive, and all the loose ends were tied up at the end. This made many players feel as though it could be the last in the series. It is certainly hard to imagine how Rockstar Games could continue the franchise and which character would act as the protagonist. Still, the studio is known for its innovation, and it will surely be able to come up with a new direction for a future title.

According to EarlyGame, there has been no official confirmation from Rockstar Games about a sequel to RDR2. However, there is now a belief that it could be in the pipeline. Indeed, some analysts have predicted that it could end up being released around 2030.

It has now been confirmed that Rockstar Games is working on GTA 6 and an announcement for its release is around the corner. After the new edition from the flagship franchise drops, the studio will most likely turn its attention to the next Red Dead Redemption game.

The picture will be clearer when GTA 6 drops, but there are already some promising rumors about the possibility of a Red Dead Redemption 3. There’s a lot to live up to from the second game, but knowing the developers, they will most certainly raise the standard once again.
