What Are Some Apps That Can Calm You If You’re Experiencing Anxiety?

Living in a world that’s very technologically advanced, it can be challenging to decompress. We’re always around computers and phones, and it seems that everywhere you turn, there’s a screen. That said, technology isn’t always maladaptive when it comes to mental health; it can be incredibly helpful, and there are ways to use your phone and tablet to calm yourself. Many apps can be used for relaxation. Here are some apps that’ll help you calm down and feel good about your state of mind. 

Calm

Calm is an app that helps you meditate and keeps track of your moods daily. You can listen to sleep stories, complete meditations, and track your breathing. It’s an excellent place to find music or calming sounds, receive guidance, and use tools from the app as healthy coping mechanisms for life issues that you’re experiencing. Calm can be very helpful for people living with chronic anxiety, but you don’t have to have an anxiety disorder to use it. No matter who you are, Calm or similar apps can help you to manage feelings of stress. 

Adult coloring apps

Having a creative outlet is helpful for many people. There’s an app called re-color that’s an adult coloring app where you can release stress by coloring pictures of animals, flowers, or anything that makes you feel at ease. Coloring has been shown to reduce stress, and apps like re-color can help you feel calm without having to keep a coloring book by your side at all times. The great thing about apps like this is that you can use them wherever you are. Whether you’re at home, in the waiting area at the doctor’s office, or in the parking lot waiting for your child after school, you can pull out your phone and use the app. Re-color is not the only adult coloring app out there; there are many available in the app store if you search for coloring apps. 

Headspace

If you use social media, it’s likely that you’ve heard of Headspace. Headspace is a popular guided meditation and mindfulness app that is loved by many. Whether you’re new to meditation or you’ve been meditating for years, listening to the audio on Headspace and letting it guide you through your next meditation can help you put the stress of the day behind you.

Yoga Studio

Yoga studio is an app where you can follow easy yoga classes on video. There are 65 premade yoga and meditation classes on this app, and you don’t have to have experience with yoga to use it. Yoga studio is excellent for people who are too shy to try yoga in a class setting. It works on iPhones, iPads, and Apple TV. It’s a great way to move your body and relax at the same time. 

Happify

Happify is an app that keeps track of your mood and gives you access to activities that can improve it. You can monitor negative thoughts, identify patterns, and start managing feelings of stress or depression. It gives you practical skills that’ll help you gain control of your mental state. 

White Noise

If you struggle with sleep or are diagnosed with Insomnia, the White Noise app might be able to help you. Some people use white noise machines to fall asleep, but with this app, you can access calming sounds that’ll help you fall asleep at any time. You don’t have to go to the store or wait for a white noise machine to arrive in the mail. This app has even been mentioned by the American Sleep Association (ASA) as one to consider. 

Seeking therapy online or in your local areafear

If you’re having trouble managing your life stressors, you might consider finding a local counselor or trying online therapy. Online therapy is a perfect place to explore your feelings and get the support that you need from a mental health professional from the privacy of your own home. Search a network of online therapists and find the right fit for you. Seeing an online counselor can be extremely helpful, and you continue to use the apps above for additional support to supplement therapy. Your mental health matters and online therapy can be beneficial.
